Northumberland County Council, a brand new unitory authority, was born in 2009.  Bringing together the staff from five district councils, and one exisiting county council, the new authority was to be for the whole of Northumberland.  In conjunction with place consultants, 'thinking place', JayJay Media produced a suite of staff induction videos to help create the feeling of unity within the new authority, and to explain the new culture round which the authority would be based.

In addition to speaking to officers and councillors, we spoke to some of the people of Northumberland, especially those who ran small businesses, generating wealth for the region.

The films were placed on the council's intranet, where emplyees could watch them as part of their induction to the new authority. They were also duplicated onto DVD for use in group induction sessions.  They proved a very effective tool to learn how the new authoriuty would work, who the key people are, and what the people of Northumberland expected from their new authority.  To maximise the inclusiveness of the films, each one was produced with and without subtitles.

We spent a full two weeks in beautiful Northumberland filming all over the county - below is a compilation video from some of the films we made, plus some photographs from our snowy loactions!
